Privacy Policy for MaPa Money
MaPa Money is a personal finance tracking application designed to help you record and manage your own financial information on your device.
Your privacy is important to us. MaPa Money is designed as an offline-first application. The current version does not operate a cloud account service, does not use advertising or analytics SDKs, and does not transmit your financial records to MaPa Money servers.
This Privacy Policy explains what information MaPa Money handles, where that information is stored, and the choices available to you.
1. Information You Enter Into MaPa Money
Depending on the features you use, MaPa Money may store information that you enter or create in the app, including:
- income and expense records;
- transaction amounts, dates, descriptions, and notes;
- account names and balances;
- categories and payment modes;
- credit-card tracking information such as billing day, payment due day, and credit limit;
- liability, borrowed, lent, repayment, EMI, and statement information;
- optional names or phone numbers that you manually enter for repayment tracking;
- an optional display name used for greetings in the app;
- reminder preferences and schedules; and
- other settings required to provide the app's features.
MaPa Money does not require access to your contacts to obtain phone numbers or names. Any such information stored in the app is information you choose to enter manually.
MaPa Money does not provide banking, lending, payment-processing, money-transfer, investment, or credit services. References in the app to loans, borrowed or lent money, repayments, credit cards, bills, transfers, or EMIs are for personal record-keeping and tracking.
2. Local Storage
Your MaPa Money ledger and settings are stored locally on your device.
The current version of MaPa Money does not upload your financial ledger to a MaPa Money server or cloud account.
The live application database is stored within the app's private storage. The live database itself is not currently encrypted at rest by MaPa Money. Access to the app's private storage is controlled by the Android operating system.
Android automatic cloud backup and device-to-device backup of MaPa Money's application data are disabled by the app.
3. Data Collection and Sharing
The current version of MaPa Money does not use advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, remote crash-reporting services, or developer-operated cloud synchronization.
MaPa Money does not sell your personal or financial information.
MaPa Money does not transmit your financial ledger to the developer for advertising, analytics, profiling, or marketing purposes.
Some actions initiated by you may cause information or files to leave the app, as described below.
4. Backup and Restore
MaPa Money allows you to create backup files so that you can preserve or restore your records.
New MaPa Money backup files are protected using password-based encryption. The current backup format uses AES-256-GCM encryption with a key derived from the password you provide.
You are responsible for remembering your backup password. MaPa Money does not operate a server that stores or recovers your backup password.
When you save or share a backup, you choose where the file is stored or which compatible application or service receives it. Once a backup file leaves MaPa Money's private storage, its storage, retention, synchronization, and further sharing are controlled by you and by the destination application or service you selected.
For compatibility with earlier versions, MaPa Money may allow restoration of legacy backup files that were created without the encryption used by the current backup format. You should protect older backup files appropriately because they may contain your financial information in a less protected form.
5. Notifications and Reminders
If you enable reminders and grant notification permission, MaPa Money may display local notifications for financial events you have chosen to track, such as repayment or bill reminders.
Depending on the reminder, a notification may contain information such as an amount, person name, account name, or other reminder-related text.
Android may display notification content on your lock screen according to your device's notification and privacy settings.
You can control notification permissions and lock-screen notification visibility through Android settings.
MaPa Money uses local, inexact notification scheduling for reminders. Reminder information is not sent to a MaPa Money notification server.
6. App Lock and Biometrics
MaPa Money may provide an optional App Lock feature using authentication capabilities available on your Android device, such as biometrics or device credentials.
Biometric authentication is handled through Android's authentication facilities. MaPa Money does not receive or store your fingerprint or other raw biometric data.
App Lock is an application access control feature. It does not encrypt the live MaPa Money database.
7. Support and Feedback
If you choose to contact MaPa Money support, the app may open your email application with basic diagnostic information such as the app version, operating-system information, or locale.
Sending the email is your choice and occurs through the email application or service you use.
MaPa Money does not automatically attach or transmit your financial ledger as part of this support action.
Information that you voluntarily include in an email will be processed by the email services involved in delivering that message and may be received by the developer when you send it.
8. Internet and Third-Party Services
Core MaPa Money functionality is designed to work without an internet connection.
The current release does not include advertising, analytics, remote crash reporting, cloud synchronization, or a developer-operated financial-data API.
Certain user-initiated actions, such as sending a support email, sharing a backup through another application, or opening an external link, may use another application or service selected by you. The privacy practices of those third-party applications or services are governed by their respective privacy policies.
9. Data Retention
Your locally stored MaPa Money data remains on your device until you take an action that removes or replaces it, such as:
- deleting individual records using available app functionality;
- using MaPa Money's erase-all-data functionality;
- restoring data in a way that replaces existing application data; or
- uninstalling the application.
Because MaPa Money does not maintain a server-side copy of your ledger in the current version, the developer does not have a remote copy of your local financial records to delete.
Backup files that you have exported are controlled by you. Erasing data from MaPa Money does not automatically delete backup copies that you previously saved or shared outside the app.
10. Your Choices and Controls
You control the financial information you enter into MaPa Money.
Depending on your device and the features you use, you can:
- edit or delete records using available app functionality;
- erase all locally stored MaPa Money data;
- enable or disable reminders;
- grant or revoke notification permission through Android settings;
- control notification visibility through Android settings;
- enable or disable App Lock;
- create backups when you choose; and
- delete exported backup files from the locations where you saved them.
11. Children's Privacy
MaPa Money is a personal finance tracking application and is not designed or directed specifically toward children.
The current version does not operate an online account system or intentionally collect children's personal information through a developer-operated service.
12. Security
MaPa Money uses Android application-private storage for its live application data and uses password-based encryption for newly created MaPa Money backup files.
However, no storage or security mechanism can provide an absolute guarantee of security.
You should protect access to your device, use appropriate Android device security, keep your backup password secure, and protect exported backup files.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when MaPa Money's functionality or data-handling practices change or when legal or platform requirements require an update.
When the policy is updated, the ?Last updated? date at the top of this page will be changed.
Material changes to MaPa Money's data practices should be reflected in this policy before or when the corresponding application update is released.
